JOINT EXPEDITIONARY BASE LITTLE CREEK-FORT STORY (Aug. 5, 2022) The Military Sealift Command (MSC) Bob Hope-class large, medium speed roll-on/roll-off ship USNS Benavidez (T-AKR 306) is anchored off the shore of Utah Beach in support of Joint Logistics Over-The-Shore (JLOTS) operations at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. JLOTS is an expeditionary capability utilized by the Department of Defense (DoD) to transport military vehicles and cargo from roll-on/roll-off ships at sea to the shore via an improvised port when traditional infrastructure, such as bare beaches or austere ports, is unavailable.
