U.S. Navy Lt. Jesus Dominguez, battalion chaplain with 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, poses for a photo on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Aug. 10, 2022. Lt. Dominguez was awarded the Professional Naval Chaplaincy Excellence Award for outstanding performance that exemplifies professional Navy chaplaincy.
“We live life humbly as Chaplains, so receiving this award represents the collective support we have from our Religious Program Specialists and Chaplain mentors across the service.”
A true Marine at heart, Lt. Dominguez embraced the calling to become a U.S. Navy Chaplain and fulfill a duty he had long been searching for.
“I was a Marine for 15 years and as an jet engine mechanic, so right away at Joint Strike Fighter Wing, I connected with the Marines stationed there in a way that no other Chaplain could, which I believe can be a bit difficult at times, so I’m grateful to have had that previous experience that allowed me to develop relationships with the Marines.”
Lt. Dominguez sets on a head-strong and eager to support his new command at 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment.
“I’m looking forward to putting my 23 plus years of experience to work for the good Marines and Sailors of 2/2, [to include] revamping our religious ministry team in support of combat operations and preparing Marines to face the [challenges] ahead.”
