U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Anthony Kellington, a St. Pete, Florida, native and combat engineer with 2d Combat Engineer Battalion, 2d Marine Division, posts security during a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Sept. 1, 2022. “My role during this MCCRE was to be a part of the security elements suppressing the enemy, for us to get through our breaches.” Kellington states, “when we got into the trenches, I was a breacher so I would place the charges on the door so the breachers could blow them.” The purpose of a MCCRE is to formally evaluate the unit’s combat readiness in preparation for deployment.
