U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Maziano Collazo, a Dallas native and combat engineer with 2d Combat Engineer Battalion, 2d Marine Division, posts security during a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Sept. 1, 2022. “During this MCCRE, I was in charge of posting security and suppressing fire for the breachers,” said Collazo. “My role was important so the enemy's heads were down and I was able to get our Marines to breach the trenches or berms to close the gaps.” The purpose of a MCCRE is to formally evaluate the unit’s combat readiness in preparation for deployment.
