The 10th Mountain Division (LI) and Fort Drum headquarters building was named after a World War I Medal of Honor recipient and commanding general who led the 10th Mountain Division in combat in the Italian Theater during World War II. Building construction was completed in July 1990 and it was known as the Division Command and Control Facility until it was memorialized as Hays Hall the following year.
