U.S. Army Sgt. Kyle Eddy, a native of Pittstown, NY, and a crew chief for Alpha Company, 3-142nd Assault Helicopter Battalion (AHB), based out of Ronkonkoma, NY, washes a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter as part of daily maintenance at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Sept. 11, 2022. The battalion’s helicopters must be washed periodically to prevent the corrosion of aircraft components and performance degradation due to heavy dust in the Middle East. 3-142nd AHB, attached to 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, currently supports the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve mission to advise, assist, and enable partnered forces in the enduring defeat of Da'esh, the common Arabic term for IS or ISIS, within designated areas of Iraq and Syria.
