    Funeral service of Jim “Pee Wee” Martin

    Staff Sgt. James Lyons, a Soldier with the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment “White Currahee”, precents a flag to the next of kin during the funeral service of Jim “Pee Wee” Martin at the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio September 21, 2022.

    Martin was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division, he fought on D-Day in Nazi occupied France; In addition to the invasion of Normandy, Martin also parachuted in Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands, and the Battle of the Bulge.

    At the age of 101 Martin passed away peacefully in his home on September 11, 2022. He was one of the last remaining Airborne "Toccoa Originals" of 1942. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Michael Eaddy)
