The Florida Army National Guard Soldiers from the 1-265th Air Defense Artillery (ADA), work in tandem with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in a joint effort to get supplies to the residents of Don Pedro Island Oct. 3, 2022. The only access to the island is by private boat or the Palm Island ferry service and residents had difficulty getting supplies. Over 6,000 service members were activated in response to the natural disaster along with both military and civilian support from out-of-state locations.
