CARIBBEAN SEA - (Oct. 3, 2022) – Sailors assigned to the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), and Surinamese Sailors assigned to the Surinamese Coast Guard Cutter (P102) brief on a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) Exercise in the Caribbean Sea, Oct. 3, 2022. The two ships also conducted a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) to enhance proficiency and improve interoperability. The event strengthened the partnership between the U.S. and Suriname. Mesa Verde is deployed to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations to conduct theater security cooperation engagements to maintain access, enhance interoperability and build enduring partnerships in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
