A student hammers a wedge into a mock, ruptured object to prevent more leakage of water as part of training, during the damage control assessment class outside the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Strike Team facility on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Oct. 5, 2022. The damage control assessment is a team building event for service members to learn the basic fundamentals on how to repair potential environmental hazards onboard naval ships, such as leakage and damaged pipelines, in order to prevent loss of essential equipment and the lives of other service members. JB MDL kicks off the Leading Edge program designed to prepare all service members in the ranks of E4 to E-6 with the basic foundations to further support joint base operations. During the program, students will be required to work in small groups, comprehend and synthesize information presented to them, and create solutions to the capstone objectives provided.
