U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Thomas Betterbed and Lieutenant Commander Katherine Irgens the first place male and female U.S. Navy finishers for the 47th Marine Corps Marathon, are awarded commemorative plaques at a post-race award ceremony, Arlington, Virginia, Oct. 30,2022. Runners participated in the marathon not only to support the Marine Corps and their country, but to have the unique experience of running on an iconic course with the Marines after months of commitment and dedication to training for a lifetime goal.
