Army Maj. Ryan Goulet, Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), disassembles an M4 rifle as part of the last event for the Expert Soldier Badge on Caserma Del Din, Vicenza, Italy, Nov. 9, 2022. Goulet joined hundreds of other Soldiers from across Europe attempt to qualify for one of three special skills badges: the Expert Infantry Badge, Expert Soldier Badge or the Expert Field Medical Badge. Called "E3B," this is the first time in Europe that qualification tests for all three badges were conducted at the same time. Qualifiers included Soldiers from SETAF-AF, 173rd Airborne Brigade, 207th Military Intelligence Brigade, 509th Strategic Signal Battalion, U.S. Special Operations Command Africa, units from U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command and service members from Spain, Croatia and Italy.
