PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 11, 2022) Lt. Cmdr. David Melendez, attached to commander, Destroyer Squadron 15, monitors surface contacts from the flag bridge wing aboard the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Malabar 2022 is a Japan-led, surface, air, and subsurface multi-lateral field training exercise with the Indian Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Royal Australian Navy and U.S. Navy. Malabar 2022 enhances interoperability between Australian, Indian, Japanese and U.S. maritime forces, strengthens the critical partnerships and demonstrates U.S. naval presence in the Indo-Pacific region.
