SAN DIEGO (Nov. 9, 2022) Sailors conduct line handling operations on the forecastle of amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) during a sea and anchor evolution, Nov. 9, 2022. Mooring lines are used to hold a ship fast to the pier against the effect of wind, current or other forces. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and John P.
