A U.S. Marine with Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), waits for instruction while conducting a forward arming and refueling point (FARP) operation with CH-53 helicopters with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461, Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd MAW, during a field exercise at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Nov. 1, 2022. A FARP is a temporary site where aircraft can be refueled and armed, allowing for sustained operations closer to the area of operation. The field exercise consisted of FARP operations, ranges, Base Recovery After Attack exercise and many other elements that prepare and allow 2nd MAW to forward deploy and engage anytime and anywhere, at a moment’s notice.
