U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Marine Air Control Group 28, 2D Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), direct the landing of a CH-53 helicopter with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461, Marine Aircraft Group 29, while conducting a forward arming and refueling point (FARP) operation during a field exercise at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Nov. 1, 2022. A FARP is a temporary site where aircraft can be refueled, allowing for sustained operations closer to the area of operation. The field exercise consisted of FARP operations, ranges, Base Recovery After Attack exercise and many other elements that prepare and allow 2nd MAW to forward deploy and engage anytime and anywhere, at a moment’s notice.
