The Murtha Cancer Center (MCC) celebrated its 10th Anniversary on December 2, 2022 with a special ceremony held at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) where the center is located.
The artwork on display at the ceremony came from the Art Therapy Program/Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department at MCC. Produced by young cancer patients and their families, art therapy helps them to cope with the emotional stress and trauma of cancer and its treatment.
Named for former congressman, John P. Murtha (D-PA), MCC performs translational cancer research, designed to effectively and efficiently support a medically ready force, provide world‑class cancer services for the Military Health System, and collaborate with other federal agencies, civilian medical centers, pharma, and academia.
