A U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II aircraft with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242 taxis the runway after conducting live ordnance loading at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Dec. 12, 2022. This is the first time VMFA-242 has conducted live ordnance hot loading, a process when live ordnance is loaded onto a running aircraft to increase operational support in the air and decrease time spent on the ground. VMFA-242 conducted routine flight operations to maintain proficiency and readiness as a forward-deployed and fully operational 5th generation stealth fighter squadron.
