U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Michael “Snookie” O'Brien, commanding officer of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, taxis his F-35C Lightning II after arriving for PACIFIC EDGE 23 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Nov. 28, 2022. Lt. Col. O'Brien led a detachment of four F-35Cs on a 2,300 nautical mile flight from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to Hawaii to participate in the exercise. Pacific Edge is a bilateral U.S. - Australian exercise held to enhance combat proficiencies through the integration of allied units and further the interoperability between the two countries' aircraft.
