NAPLES, ITALY –– Capt. Michael Smith gives a speech during his change of command ceremony for Naval Support Facility Redzikowo in Redzikowo, Poland, Dec. 15. Capt. Smith served as commanding officer from Dec. 2021 Dec. 2022. NSF Redzikowo, the Navy's newest base, supports the AEGIS ashore missile defense system, providing layered collective defense against missile threats. through Navy Region EURAFCENT oversees nine installations in seven countries, enabling U.S., allied and partner nation forces to be where they are needed, when they are needed, in order to ensure security and stability in the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
