U.S. Marines with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 469, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing stand in formation during the deactivation of HMLA-469 and the reactivation of HMLA-367 on Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California, Dec. 16, 2022. HMLA-469, call sign "Vengeance," established a strong legacy through skilled flying and participation in missions across a range of military operations for the past 13 years, and is deactivating as part of a Force Design 2030 initiative. HMLA-367, call sign "Scarface," with roots dating back to World War II, earned its call sign during operations in Vietnam and sustained a commendable reputation through operations Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Operation Inherent Resolve II and in support of operations in Afghanistan.
