PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 9, 2022) – U.S. Marines with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) tend the phone-and-distance line between fleet replenishment oiler USNS Henry J. Kaiser (T-AO-187) and Anchorage to indicate the distance between the two ships during a replenishment-at-sea, Nov. 9, 2022. The Navy-Marine Corps team, capable of both rapid response and sustained operations globally, remains America's most persistent and versatile military instrument. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks Anchorage and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Austin Gillam)
