PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 26, 2022) - U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to USS Makin Island un-chock and unchain an F-35B Lightning II from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, during flight deck operations, Nov. 26. A force in readiness, 13th MEU pilots continuously train to stay current in their qualifications which will allow them to rapidly respond to crises in all domain environments with the help of naval power projection. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docs USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
