U.S. Army Gen. James Dickinson, United States Space Command commander, coins a U.S. Space Force Guardian Maj. Edward Fernandez, Space Domain Awareness Engineering and Integration Division deputy chief and project officer, for outstanding performance in overseeing the visit’s logistical planning and leading within his unit at Space Systems Command, Calif., Jan. 5, 2023. With more than an $11B space acquisition budget, members assigned to SSC plays an active role in supporting efforts that enables the command to provide warfighters with superior space assets and capabilities to help defend the nation and its allies. USSPACECOM conducts operations in, from, and to space to deter conflict, and if necessary, defeat aggression, deliver space combat power, for the Joint and Combined force, and defend U.S. vital interests with allies and partners.
