The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Alaska District continues construction of the 16/34 runway extension at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on Jan. 12, 2023. The $309 million contract award is the largest in Alaska District’s history and is the largest construction project in U.S. Pacific Air Forces’s area of operation. The project will exponentially increase JBER’s capability as a force projection platform and continue to support our national defense strategy as well as the Airmen and Soldiers in the Arctic.
