Clinton "Daly" Yates, project manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Alaska District, observes work on the 16/34 runway extension on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on Jan. 12, 2023. Ultimately, the runway will be extended about 2,500 feet and allow JBER to have two functional runways of about 10,000-feet long each. The project also includes the first storm water subsurface infiltration system to be installed on the installation.
