Sgt. Jesse Hernandez, the brother of Sgt. Michael J. Idanan, alongside Soldiers with Apache Troop, 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, "War Rakkasans" conducted a PT competition November 17, 2022 to memorialize Idanan who was killed in action in Bayii, Iraq November 19, 2005.
The groups were split up into teams and each team completed a workout at multiple stations within a particular time frame today during PT. The team with the most points won the competition.
Hernandez spoke about his brother at the end of the competition. “I looked up to my brother, I wanted to be just like him.”
After he spoke Lt. Col. Jason Shuff, the commander of 1-33CAV, gave a few words of encouragement to Hernandez. “You will always have a home with us wherever you are," he said while giving his closing remarks for the event. (U.S. Army photo by: Staff Sgt. Michael Eaddy)
