230126-N-GR655-0027 WEISER, Idaho (January 26, 2023) – Master Chief Travis Skipper, chief of the boat of the future USS Idaho (SSN 799), speaks with students at Weiser High School in Weiser, Idaho, Jan. 26. The discussion was part of a larger visit by members of the crew to their future Virginia-class submarine’s namesake state, where the sailors are learning more about Idaho’s rich history and military traditions, as well as sharing their Navy stories and building relationships in the community. The future USS Idaho is currently being built at General Dynamics Corp.’s Electric Boat shipyard in Groton, Connecticut, where the crew – known as a pre-commissioning unit (PCU) – is based.
