    Sailors assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) and Souda Shelter Project Owner Elizabeth Iliakis work together to build dog beds out of wooden pallets and clear weeds in during a community relations event at the Souda Shelter Project in Crete, Greece, on Feb. 4, 2023. Leyte Gulf, homeported in Norfolk, is attached to the USS George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike group and is operating in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations as part of a scheduled deployment. NSA Souda Bay is an operational ashore installation which enables and supports U.S., Allied, Coalition, and Partner nation forces to preserve security and stability in the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
