Army Maj. Gen. Timothy A. Reisch, South Dakota adjutant general, Army Maj. Robert Dejong, South Dakota counterdrug coordinator, and Army Master Sgt. Kristi Palmer, South Dakota Counterdrug Civil Operations noncommissioned officer-in-charge, show off the Department of Defense Community Drug Awareness Award following the 2012 DoD Red Ribbon Week Awards Ceremony, Oct. 18, at the Hall of Heroes in the Pentagon. The award recognizes the best Drug Demand Reduction program in each military service for its effort in promoting its support of outreach and prevention programs within its communities. “I couldn’t be prouder of our Community Drug Awareness Program,” Maj. Gen. Reisch said. “The way they’ve engaged the youth of South Dakota is truly remarkable.” The National Guard Counterdrug Program recently revamped its DDR program, and it is now the Civil Operations Program, which focuses on coalition building.
