CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2023) Unmanned systems (UMS) operators, assinged to Explosive Ordnance Dispsoal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 1 Expeditionary Mine Countermeasures (ExMCM) Company 1-3, tranpsort a Mark 18 Mod 2 Kingfish unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) while training at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 16. Navy EOD has the largest inventory of UUVs in the Navy, which ExMCM Companies primarily employ to search, classify and localize underwater mines and other explosive hazards impeding the maneuver of the fleet and joint force in the maritime environment. EODMU-1 is a component of EOD Group (EODGRU) 1 that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, employs advanced tactics and technologies to exploit and secure the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver, builds and fosters relationships with trusted partners, and protects the nation.
