Maj. Gen. John Klein, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center commander, right, speaks with Capt. Jayce C. Webster, currently assigned to the 726th Air Mobility Squadron, at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, and augmenting the 728th Air Mobility Squadron on Incirlik Air Base, Türkiye, Feb. 25, 2023. Klein visited Incirlik AB to see firsthand the 728th Air Mobility Squadron’s support to the Turkish government’s response following a series of earthquakes on Feb. 6, 2023. In the aftermath of the earthquakes, U.S. President Joseph R. Biden directed the heads of federal agencies across the government to rapidly mobilize to assist the Government of Türkiye and humanitarian partners in Syria. The 728th AMS has facilitated the air transport of supplies and personnel sent through Incirlik AB to provide humanitarian support to over 100,000 people that were impacted by the earthquakes. On Feb. 9, 2023, the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing deployed 24 Airmen from the 721st Aerial Port Squadron on Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and the 726th AMS on Spangdahlem AB to augment 728th AMS aerial port operations through Incirlik AB. Shortly after, Air Mobility Command deployed an additional 23 Airmen from continental United States AMC locations to further bolster the cargo and passenger throughput capability at Incirlik AB.
