Capt. Greg Staton, 728th Air Mobility Squadron maintenance operations officer, left, hands a safety belt to Maj. Gen. John Klein, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center commander, at Incirlik Air Base, Türkiye, Feb. 25, 2023. Klein visited Incirlik AB to see firsthand the 728th Air Mobility Squadron’s progress in evolving to meet the needs of the Next Generation Air Mobility Operations Wing. During the visit, he was also able to see the squadron’s support to the Turkish government’s response to the earthquake on Feb. 6, 2023. In the aftermath of the earthquakes, U.S. President Joseph R. Biden directed the heads of federal agencies across the government to rapidly mobilize to assist the Government of Türkiye and humanitarian partners in Syria. The 728th AMS has facilitated the air transport of supplies and personnel sent through Incirlik AB to provide humanitarian support to over 100,000 people that were impacted by the earthquakes. The mission of the 728th AMS is to advance effective and flexible global mobility operations through en route aircraft maintenance and aerial port operations.
