A U.S. Navy MH-60 Seahawk with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 conducts search and rescue operations during Iron Fist 23 off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, March 5, 2023. A search and rescue exercise prepared U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and Sailors aboard amphibious docking ship USS Ashland (LSD-48) for crisis response overseas. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the JMSDF.
