    The U.S. Navy’s amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD-48), prepares to retrieve a rigid hulled inflatable boat during a search and rescue exercise during Iron Fist 23 off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, March 5, 2023. The RHIB was used to provide safety structure for the search and rescue exercise. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the JMSDF.
