A Rosette is placed besides the name of a fallen service member who has since been recovered and identified, at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial (MACM), March 7, 2023. Prior to 2001, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has been disinterring unknowns from MACM in order to begin the identification process. However in 2014-2015, DPAA in conjunction with the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) began larger scale disinterment projects, bringing larger numbers of unknown service members to DPAA facilities on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
