Commander and Director, Captain Kevin Brown joined staff on March 16, 2023 to premier the new “Debrief and Restoration Room.” The ribbon cutting wraps up #MHSPatientSafetyWeek activities at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.
Medical staff are often exposed to traumatic or stressful situations which can have negative effects on mental health and well-being.
“The room is a quiet setting away from the clinical environment where staff can go when they need to restore from a stressful day or a specific event,” said Jennifer Cruz, patient safety manager for Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. “The room features, not just a quiet space, but there is information for stress management, health and well-being, and spiritual information if they need to connect with these resources."
The room is open 24 hours a day for NMCCL staff to use personally or for care teams to debrief away from the clinical setting.
