Liszewski, Okinawa Defense Bureau Director General Isao Ono, Nakama and Kakazu were present for the ceremony. The new gate connects Camp Hansen directly to the Okinawan Expressway. The project, which began June 2020, took approximately three years to finish and is anticipated to reduce base commute times by 15-20 minutes per trip as well as reducing the rush hour traffic for the residents of Kin and others commuting along that route.
