MIAMI – (March 27, 2023) – Ambassador James Story, U.S. Ambassador to the Venezuela Affairs Unit located at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, provides a U.S. State Department perspective for students attending the Combined Force Maritime Component Commander (CFMCC) flag course at USSOUTHCOM headquarters, March 27-31, 2023. This year’s course features 16 partner nation senior officers and 19 U.S. flag and general officers. The purpose of the CFMCC flag course is to improve the effectiveness of senior leaders (flag and general officers) who routinely work together at the operational level of command and control. Rear Adm. Jim Aiken, Commander U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet (USNAVSO/FOURTHFLT), serves as host for this iteration of the course. USNAVSO/FOURTHFLT is the trusted maritime partner for Caribbean, Central and South America maritime forces leading to improved unity, security, and stability.
