Jacob Downs, a squad leader in 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain), New Hampshire Army National Guard, engages simulated targets on a screen using the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST), April 1 at the New Hampshire National Guard Regional Training Institute in Center Strafford, N.H.
At the EST, soldiers are evaluated on their ability to engage targets with issued weapons using lasers and a projector screen to simulate live-fire training.
