Dr. Lauren Santini, a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Scientific Recovery Expert (SRE) and Forensic Archaeologist, briefs her excavation plan to Khampheng Douangthongla, Department of Europe and Americas Director General for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a recovery mission in Laos People’s Democratic Republic (Laos PDR), March 5, 2023. Throughout U.S. recovery missions within other countries, government officials will visit to hear about the objectives and see the progress. These visits help strengthen the bridge of communication and support between each respective country who then approve of the recovery teams to return.
