Airmen from the 168th Civil Engineering Squadron set up reserve osmosis water purification (ROPWU)) operations during a multi-day flyaway readiness exercise, April 1-7, 2023. The ROPWU is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules, and larger particles from any water source to produce potable drinking water in an austere environment. Multi-capable Airmen with various Air Force Civil Engineering Squadron specialty career fields took part in expanding their skills and operating the ROPWU. The exercise focused on demonstrating the Department of the Air Force’s priority of Agile Combat Employment, which uses multi-capable Airmen across career fields to increase operational resiliency and survivability while generating combat air power.
