U.S. Marine bulk fuel specialists with the Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 based in Jacksonville, North Carolina, assist U.S. Airmen with 176th Air Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, with connecting Fuels Operational Readiness Capability Equipment (FORCE) to a C-17 Globemaster III jet for “hot pit” operations at Key Field Air National Guard Base in Meridian, Mississippi, April 16, 2023. The operation was a part of exercise Southern Strike 2023, which is a total force, multinational training event hosted annually by the Mississippi National Guard in Gulfport with distributed basing sites and complex scenarios designed to test and validate shared agile combat employment (ACE) concepts.
