Two BMA Equipment workers pose for a photo. BMA Equipment is an industrial company in Zarzis, Tunisia that produces ventilation equipment and refrigeration units. With support from USAID’s Tunisia JOBS program, the company increased sales by 72% in 2022, retained its 20 employees, and created 17 new jobs for local youth.
While BMA Equipment had the technical expertise to produce finished products, most of its foreign clients would only buy semi-finished products, which are less lucrative, until it implemented the European health, safety, and environmental protection standards necessary to receive a European quality indicator (CE marking). USAID helped the company implement these standards so it could sell more finished products abroad, mainly in France. In addition, Tunisia JOBS awarded BMA Equipment a grant to purchase a laser-cutting machine to customize its ventilator hoods, leading to even more export orders.
