Participants of the five-kilometer Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, push themselves toward the finishline, at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, Nov. 4. The Susan G. Komen foundation was established in 1982 during an effort to end breast cancer throughout the world. During its 30 years, the foundation has invested nearly $2 billion to fulfilling that promise.
