Sailors from Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron EIGHT recently performed a series of pre-checks on electronics, weapons, oil, and fuel in preparation for the USNS Alan Shepard in the Port of Djibouti, April 12. The Maritime Expeditionary Security Force is a core Navy capability that provides port and harbor security, high value asset security, and maritime security in the coastal and inland waterways. CLDJ is an operational installation that enables U.S., allied, and partner nation forces to be where and when they are needed to ensure security in Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. The base enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Brittany Ofori)
