U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC) stand in formation during the 593rd ESC change of command ceremony in which Brig. Gen. Martine S. Kidd relinquished command to Col. Kevin Cotman at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, May 24, 2023. The change of command ceremony is a tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander. The 593rd ESC deploys as an early entry mission command headquarters in support of I Corps, attached and aligned forces; provides sustainment support to enable freedom of action in the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility to win decisively in any environment.
