Xavier Brunson, commanding general of I Corps, which relinquished Kidd's command of the 593rd ESC during the change of command ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, May 24, 2023. The change of command ceremony is a tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander. The 593rd ESC deploys as an early entry mission command headquarters in support of I Corps, attached and aligned forces; provides sustainment support to enable freedom of action in the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility to win decisively in any environment.
