SAN DIEGO (May 24, 2023) Information System Technician 1st Class Jose Reyna, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group (EODGRU) 1, uses PRC-163 and PRC-152A radios from a small boat in San Diego Bay during an EODGRU-1 communications exercise, May 24, 2023. The exercise utilized a variety of cutting-edge devices that linked and branched off each other to create a meshed network that enhances the communication capabilities of Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces operating in austere environments. EODGRU-1 is a critical part of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, employs advanced tactics and technologies to exploit and secure the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver, builds and fosters relationships with trusted partners, and protects the nation.
