Pvt. Andre Boone, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop A, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, pulls security for his team during a close quarter combat exercise at the Oro Grande Shoot House Training Facility in Fort Bliss, Texas, Nov. 13. Boone, a native of Trenton, N.J., and his “battle buddies” conducted the close quarter combat training during the Network Integration Evaluation 13.1 exercise. In addition to assessing radios, satellite systems and smartphone-like devices during the exercise, the “Iron Brigade” soldiers continued to conduct realistic combat training like the urban operations exercise held at the shoot house.
